Erin Adam's creates handmade glass tiles with a tailored yet folksy look. Originally trained as a ceramic artist, Adams is inspired by fabrics, and bases all of her designs on textiles. "I am always inspired by glass and the idea of making glass look like something it isn't," said Adams. "I love the idea of color on color. The fused glass color layers add a soft texture to the tile." One of her newest designs is called "Quilt," a glass tile with a retro geometric look. I also love her triple basketweave in light blue, off white and light green (pictured), and I recently used her Zen Weave in a project in Santa Monica canyon--it looked absolutely amazing, my only regret was not using more of it.
These mosaics come on a 12" x 12" netted sheet, or can be customized to fit the installation. Adam's designs are sold at Ann Sacks, an amazing place...feels like a "trade only" showroom, but it's not. Founded in 1981, Ann Sacks offers both consumers and trade professionals highquality tile, stone, plumbing fittings and fixtures, lighting and accessories for the kitchen, bath and home. Based in Portland, Ore., the company is a division of the Kohler Co. Interiors Group that includes Baker Knapps & Tubbs, Inc. and McGuire Furniture.
